Watch Bruce and Nils do some great moves! Next is a fantastic version of "Growin' Up." Bruce tells the story of him and Clarence meeting a fortune teller (played by Barbara Carr, Bruce's co-manager and Dave Marsh's wife). They then get lost in the woods of New Jersey and meet two bears who want to be their friends. Great storytelling, great song, great footage. * Sept. 26, 1986 -- Bruce is in the audience at a play (''Lady Beth'') at the Stone Pony. This play was put on by out-of-work 3M workers from the plant in Freehold. Bruce gets up on stage and gives a speech and poses with the play's performers. * Oct. 13, 1986 -- Bruce performs "Dancing In the Dark," "Glory Days"and "Hungry Heart" during the Bridge Benefit at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountainview, Calif. Danny and Nils play with Bruce in this acoustic show. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young join Bruce for "Hungry Heart." Very unique performance. * Nov. 5, 1986 -- Bruce joins Huey Lewis and Bob Geldof in Paris for "Barefootin'." Bruce was in Paris because his wife at the time, Julianne, was filming a movie there. Isn't that Eddie Manion of the Jukes in the horn section on this song? * April 12, 1987 -- One of those legendary nights at the Stone Pony.Clips of Bruce doing "Wooly Bully" and "Lucille" with Max, Patti, Roy, Garry and members of the band Cats. Jon Bon Jovi (with his big hair) then comes onstage to sing "Kansas City" with Bruce. * Aug. 21, 1987 -- Little Steven plays the Stone Pony and is joined by Bruce for the final two songs: "Native American" and "Sun City." This footage is shot from the DJ booth (by MTV) and is different from the footage that has been circulating for years. It's a straight-on shot. * Sept. 25, 1987 -- Bono asks if anyone wants to play his guitar and who comes out from beside the stage? Bruce Springsteen, who joins U2 for "Stand By Me" at the old JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. Shot in black and white, this is raw footage from the U2 movie "Rattle & Hum." * Sometime in 1987 -- A wedding party outside the St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold has a surprise visitor, Bruce Springsteen. Bruce, who was riding along on his motorcycle, stops in and visits one of his aunts who is at the wedding. Bruce poses for photos with the bride and groom and members of the wedding party. Someone asks Bruce where his wife is and he says, "She's not here right now." * Nov. 11, 1987 -- Raw footage of the "Tunnel of Love" video shoot from the Casino in Asbury Park. This is just Bruce (and a bit of Patti) lip-synching the song from the stage and walking around the Casino, which was falling apart back then. This doesn't include any of the footage of the circus sideshow characters. There's also a small clip from Channel 2 News in New York of the video shoot. * Dec. 13, 1987 -- Paul Simon's All-Star Benefit for the Homeless at Madison Square Garden has Bruce Springsteen as one of the special guest. Clips of Bruce performing an acoustic "Born To Run" and is then joined by Simon, Billy Joel, Paul Schaefer and David Letterman's band on a rousing "Glory Days." * Jan. 20, 1988 -- Clips from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. Maybe one of the greatest gathering of rock 'n' roll stars on one stage ever. Bruce joins George Harrison, Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan and others for "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Satisfaction." This is a clip from Channel 4 News in New York. Watch closely and you'll see George Harrison bump Bruce away from the microphone (and smile about it afterward) during "I Saw Her Standing There." You'll also see members of the E Street Band in the background as well as Elton John, Ben E. King, Mary Wilson and many more luminaries. * Feb. 25, 1988 = It's the opening night of the "Tunnel of Love" tour at the Centrum in Worcester, Mass., and MTV is there. Raw footage (clips) of "Tunnel of Love," "Be True," "All That Heaven Will Allow," "Brilliant Disguise" and "Spare Parts." If you listen closely, you can hear Kurt Loder's voice in the background. * March 8, 1988 -- Clips from Channel 6 News in Philadelphia of Bruce's show at the Spectrum. There's footage of Bruce exiting the Four Seasons Hotel and getting into his van to go to the show. Also an interview with Billy Smith of the Asbury Park Rock and Roll Museum. Take a look at the Asbury Park boardwalk in 1988 -- it doesn't look that bad. * April 1, 1988 -- A fan sneaks a camcorder into Nassau Coliseum and films Bruce from behind the stage. Here's "She's the One." Watch for a fan who jumps on stage in the middle of the song, Bruce grabs him by the shirt and leads him off the stage. DVD 4 * April 1, 1988 -- "Dancing in the Dark" from Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, N.Y. Bruce brings a girl onstage to dance with him * June 18, 1988 -- Bruce and Clarence make a surprise appearance at the "SOS Racism" anti-racism benefit at Chateau De Vincennes in Paris. This is black-and-white footage off of French TV. The acoustic set has "Promised Land," "My Hometown," "Blowin' in the Wind" (the first time Bruce has ever performed this song) and "Bad Moon Rising." * July 14, 1988 -- Some great clips (pro shot) from the show in Basil,Switzerland. "Follow That Dream" played for the only time on the "Tunnel of Love" tour. Bruce says this is one of his favorite Elvis Presley songs. "Twist and Shout" is a lot of fun as trumpet player Mark Pender looks like he's going to blow a gasket during his solo. * July 19, 1988 -- Bruce performs Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love." The largest show ever in East Germany draws more than 160,000 people and is the largest show Bruce has ever played and one of the largest rock concerts ever. A moving performance as many in the crowd are holding sparklers. * July 23, 1988 -- A unique clip. Bruce is walking down the street in Copenhagen, Denmark, on an off day during the "Tunnel of Love" tour. He runs into street musician John Magnusson and does "I'm On Fire," "The River" and "Dancing in the Dark" on acoustic guitar. It was filmed by a member of the crowd on the street. * July 25, 1988 -- A fun clip (pro shot) of "You Can Look" from Idraetspark in Copenhagen, Denmark. Patti and two other women dance around and Bruce and the guys in the horn section put on a great act. * Sept. 15, 1988 -- White men can dance! Bruce and the E Street Band are now part of the Amnesty International Tour and this clip is from Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. During "Dancing in the Dark" Bruce picks a male dance partner and the guy is great!!! He imitates Bruce perfectly. You have to see it to believe it! The next clip is of a young k.d. lang who joins Bruce, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman and Youssou N'Dour for "Chimes of Freedom" during the encores. * Oct. 15, 1988 -- River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The final show of the Amnesty world tour. One of my all-time favorite clips, Bruce and Sting doing "Every Breath You Take" together. Clarence, Nils, and Roy join Sting's band in a version that never seems to end. The song is so intense that they just keep going and going. Awesome. Next, Bruce and Sting perform "The River" together with Shankar (a local performer) joining in on a unique violin. Peter Gabriel and Sting then come out dressed like Bruce and they do "Twist and Shout." The huge crowd is so into it. Look for original E Street Band member David Sancious playing keyboards and Jon Landau on guitar. * June 14, 1989 -- Bruce joins Neil Young to sing "Down by the River" at Neil's show at Jones Beach on Long Island. The quality on this one isn't the best, but it's cool to see Neil and Bruce sing together. * Sept. 26, 1991 -- Southside Johnny talks about Bruce and "It's Been a Long Time" is shown being filmed at the Stone Pony. Bruce, Little Steven and Southside Johnny and the Jukes play on this song. It was the final night at the Pony before the club changed ownership. * May 8, 1992 -- Small snippet of Bruce in the hallway at NBC the day before he appears on "Saturday Night Live." From Channel 4 News in New York. * May 9, 1992 -- Two hilarious promos for Bruce's appearance on "Saturday Night Live" later that evening. The first shows Bruce with Tom Hanks (the host of the show) and Mike Myers and Dana Carvey dressed up as their Wayne's World characters. The second is Hanks and Bruce together. You'll laugh at both of these. Then there's footage of the close of the show as the cast of Saturday Night Live, Bruce, Tom Hanks, Jay Leno (who was there for some reason) all hug. * Aug. 10, 1992 -- A clip from "Entertainment Tonight" covering Bruce's final show of the 11-night stand at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. There's some concert footage and a short interview with Bruce.
